Steven specializes in highly structured real estate finance and capital markets transactions (including CMBS origination and securitization, mezzanine loans, intercreditor relationships, participations, syndications, workouts and restructurings, warehouse lending, private equity, hard money lending, agency loans, and EB-5 loans), as well as joint ventures, developments, leasing and casino gaming.  Steven has extensive experience representing borrowers, lenders, servicers, special servicers, private equity funds, special opportunity funds, casino gaming companies, and veterinary startups. Steven is also experienced in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions including acquisitions and dispositions, financing, leasing, partnerships, joint ventures, developments, real estate fund formation, and workouts and reorganizations. 

Steven frequently represents lenders, investors, servicers, special servicers and borrowers in connection with commercial loan workouts and foreclosures.

Steven is admitted to practice in the State of New York, State of Connecticut, and the District of Columbia and has been admitted to practice for more than 25 years.  He is actively involved in the Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC), the Mortgage Bankers Association of New York (MBA), and the Westchester Fairfield County Association of Corporate Counsel.

Prior to starting Coury Legal & Advisory PLLC, Steven was a partner at SP Legal Advisors, White and Williams LLP for 8 years, a partner at Cassin & Cassin LLP, counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP for 14 years, and counsel at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres and Friedman LLP.

Steven is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law (1999) and Fairfield University (1996).
