STEVEN E. COURY

Steven E. Coury is the founder of Coury Legal & Advisory PLLC and has practiced law for more than 25 years. His practice focuses on highly structured real estate finance and capital markets transactions, commercial real estate, corporate and securities matters, commercial litigation, personal injury, and gaming.

Steven has extensive experience handling CMBS originations and securitizations, mezzanine loans, intercreditor relationships, loan participations and syndications, warehouse and bridge lending, balance-sheet lending, debt-fund and hard-money lending, preferred equity investments, agency loans, EB-5 loans, and complex workouts and restructurings.

He represents borrowers, lenders, servicers, special servicers, investors, private equity funds, special opportunity funds, casino gaming companies, veterinary startups, and other businesses and institutions. Steven frequently represents lenders, investors, servicers, special servicers, and borrowers in connection with commercial loan workouts, restructurings, reorganizations, and foreclosures.

Steven is also experienced in all aspects of commercial real estate transactions, including nationwide acquisitions and dispositions, financing, commercial leasing, partnerships, joint ventures, development projects, real estate fund formation, ground leases, and property management agreements.

His corporate and securities practice includes mergers and acquisitions, Regulation D securities offerings and private placements, joint venture agreements, corporate formation and structuring, and hotel franchise agreements. Steven also handles complex business and commercial disputes, contract enforcement and breach-of-contract claims, real estate, partnership and shareholder litigation, business torts, and fraud claims.

His additional experience includes the purchase and sale of casino and hospitality facilities, gaming joint ventures, and online gaming and skins agreements. He also represents plaintiffs in severe and catastrophic injury matters, including premises liability, negligence, motor vehicle accidents, and wrongful death actions.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Before founding Coury Legal & Advisory PLLC, Steven’s experience included serving as a partner at SP Legal Advisors, spending eight years as a partner at White and Williams LLP, and serving as a partner at Cassin & Cassin LLP. He also served as counsel at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP for 14 years and as counsel at Kasowitz, Benson, Torres & Friedman LLP.
